OUTREACH PROGRAM WITH SCHOOLS:

Wall Works: The United States of Love
with artist Martin Kersels

Exhibition from November 12, 2008—February 28, 2009

For Wall Works, artist Martin Kersels designed a project about flags: their symbolism, their design, and the impact you can make with them. Participants made small flags (9”x12”) out of felt with collage techniques and used the theme of “love” to guide each design. Each participant created a flag about something they love (for example: mom, dad, dog, cat, Nintendo, Freedom, Democracy, pizza...) creating felt cut outs of that beloved entity and gluing them onto a solid background. All flags are installed together for the project entitled The United States of Love.
