Our History
Since
1932, the Santa Monica Junior Chamber of Commerce ("The
Jaycees") has been a non-profit service organization dedicated
to leadership, growth and community service. The Jaycees has
been an excellent organization for young people to begin
building the foundation for a successful career by
developing leadership skills through the betterment of their community.
Currently, members of the Santa Monica Jaycees are given the
chance to grow and develop by participating in community service projects.
Emphasis is placed on three interdependent areas of
activities: Management Development, Individual Development and
Community Development. By participating on committees and chairing
events, an individual learns how to delegate, manage and work with
other civic-minded people.
The Jaycees run numerous events throughout the year which
give an individual the opportunity to grow through success and
failure in a positive environment. The Jaycees also offer
individual development seminars on both time management and
leadership dynamics. The various aspects of organizing one's
self and obtaining leadership skills are highlighted in these
programs.
